چکیده

Desalter effluent (DE) is typically discharged into a petroleum wastewater treatment plant, but its high salt concentration deteriorates the biological treatment. This study used various dilution rates to investigate of synthetic DE containing dodecane under saline conditions using halotolerant yeast, Debaryomyces hansenii, determine optimum substrate for use in continuous stirred-tank reactors (CSTRs). A literature review indicated that this was first examine D. hansenii CSTR system. At low concentration, did not inhibit growth, and experimental data approached Monod model, with μmax Ks selected as 0.08 h−1 1575 mg L−1, respectively. The removal chemical oxygen demand (95.7% 85%) obtained at 0.007 0.026 d−1. Using system appeared be sustainable approach DE. Scale-up these laboratory findings industrial scale required confirm can treated equalization filtration tanks bioreactor. Adjusting rate provide sufficient time biodegradation hydrocarbon from by yeasts like hansenii.

Turbulence-Flame Interactions in Lean Premixed Dodecane Flames

Turbulent lean premixed dodecane/air flames are simulated in a doubly-periodic domain using detailed kinetics and transport over a range of Karlovitz number. We observe extensive thickening of thermal profiles through the flames that increases with turbulent intensity. The high Lewis number of the flames acts to suppress wrinkling of the flame resulting in considerably lower turbulent flame spe...

Fundamental Chemistry of U and Pu in the TBP-Dodecane-Nitric Acid System

The speciation of hexavalent U and tetravalent Pu will be examined in the TBP-dodecanenitric acid systems. This topic is chosen based on data needs for separation modeling identified by the AFCI. Emphasis will be placed on studying the influence of nitrate and acetohydroxamic acid on U and Pu speciation as well as conditions where a third phase forms in the organic phase. The organic phase will...

Effect of 10-year continuous saffron cultivation on physical and chemical properties of soil

The effect of 10-year continuous saffron cultivation on physical and chemical properties of a silty clay loam soil was investigated in a research farm of College of Agriculture, Shiraz University, Shiraz (52 º 33ʹ E Longitude and 29º 36ʹ N latitude), Iran. This farm was irrigated with different regimes (100% of saffron's potential evapotranspiration (ETp), 75%ETp, 50%ETp) including rain fed tre...

Effects of ceramide-1-phosphate on cultured cells: dependence on dodecane in the vehicle.

Ceramide-1-phosphate (C1P), the product of ceramide kinase, is a sphingophospholipid with recently recognized signaling properties. In particular, it was reported to be mitogenic and capable of direct stimulation of cytosolic phospholipase A(2alpha). Much of the present knowledge has relied on the use of C1P of various acyl chain lengths, together with diverse protocols to deliver it to culture...
